Build Log (Backfill) — Day 1

**Build Log: Zero to AI — Day 1**

Hey everyone! Welcome to Day 1 of my journey from zero to AI. I’m super excited—and a bit intimidated—to dive into this world of artificial intelligence and machine learning. So let’s jump right into what went down.

First off, I spent a good chunk of the day setting up my workspace and getting my mental game ready. I figured I’d start with a deep breath and a big mug of coffee. Gotta keep the caffeine flowing, right? After that, I dived straight into the resources I’d gathered. Tons of online courses, tutorials, and heaps of documentation. It felt like a tsunami of information crashing over me. I decided to go with a basic course on Python for AI since I know just enough Python to be dangerous.

The progress? Well, I managed to get through the first few modules, which covered data types, loops, and functions. Nothing too mind-blowing, but it felt good to refresh my knowledge. It’s kind of like revisiting the basics of a sport before hitting the big leagues. I also stumbled upon a project idea: building a simple chatbot. Seems like a manageable challenge and a fun way to apply what I’m learning.

Now, onto the challenges—oh boy! I underestimated the amount of terminology in AI. Neural networks, algorithms, and oh, let’s not get started on all the math behind it. I found myself Googling more than I’d like to admit, and some concepts went way over my head. Also, I nearly lost my mind trying to set up my development environment. Why are there so many dependencies?! 😅 But after a few resets and way too much trial and error, I finally got everything running smoothly.

Looking ahead, my next steps are to finish the Python basics and then dive into libraries like NumPy and Pandas. Once I feel comfortable with those, I’ll transition into machine learning fundamentals. I’ve set a goal to complete the first chatbot iteration by the end of the week. Let’s see how that pans out!

Overall, Day 1 has been a mix of excitement and frustration, but that’s part of the journey, right? Let’s keep the momentum going! Until tomorrow! 🚀
